Finally, a diesel mainstream CUV - and with 40 mpg hwy.
GM becoming the new VW?

Don’t most gas CUVs get 30+ mpg nowadays? Why would you bother with a diesel for only 40mpg? My wife’s X1 gets 35 on the highway.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

It looks like it’s looking at a bee that landed on the bowtie badge.

If this has the diesel engine from the Cruze then it’s not that efficient at all for a diesel. It should have a nice amount of torque though.
EDIT: It has a 1.6l turbodiesel, probably all new to meet the US emissions standards.
I hope that this will be a global vehicle and will replace the aging Captiva for the international market.

Yeah, that’s pretty bad for a diesel.
I get 40 mpg highway in my 1.8t powered regular gas Jetta.

Assuming new and FWD, your X1 is rated 31 hwy. This is also larger - about the size of an X3 which is rated 28 mpg in FWD.

It also has a much greater frontal area. Drag is a bitch.

I can see this doing well. I swear the current Equinox has been around 12 years.

Pretty sure it’s half that, the current model came out for 2010MY... And for a while they were impossible to keep on the lot.

I hope it’s successful, because between ‘80s GM, coal rolling brodozers, and VW, diesel has an uphill battle in the US.

It’s a 2013 and RWD. Rated at 34, routinely gets 35. Weighs only about 100-200 lbs less than the Equinox.

the sticker “highway” mpg is not the same as you doing a steady cruise.

How is the X1? I want to hate them, but I dont. Especially in that orange color.

The ride and power are good. Nice handling, but the electronic steering feels numb for a BMW. It’s still good compared o other mom mobiles. Gets great gas mileage while still being fun to drive. Mine has been reliable through almost 60k miles. It’s my wife’s car and she loves it. Its Valencia Orange with tan interior. I initially thought it was ugly, but it has grown on me.

Those are RWD aren’t they - whoops.
The new Equinox starts at 3330 lbs, so the X1 is now a bit heavier.
BTW, the EPA tweaked MPG testing this year. Ratings for everything are going to drop for 2017 and beyond.

The new X1 is front wheel drive. Travesty.

Aaah. Makes even less sense then that the new one is rated less mpg than yours.

It will be. The press release states that it will be released in 115 additional global markets after it’s North American release.
I’ll be willing to guess that it will replace the Captiva in any market that currently sells it (with the least likely to get it as a Captiva replacement being Japan, since Chevrolet doesn’t do that well there anyway), plus or including Australia and New Zealand as a Holden, slotting between the Trax and Acadia.
